Our Approach

At Summit Chiropractic & Wellness Center, we recognize that every patient is unique, and every ailment requires a personalized treatment plan. Our unique approach of assessing five vital areas of health: the craniocervical junction, vestibular system, oculomotor system, proprioceptive system, and a patient’s nervous system allow our office to uncover issues that may have been missed by other providers. As a result, our approach could make a drastic difference in your health outcomes. Whether you have already sought help for your current condition, or if you are looking for a new approach, our office is committed to educating you on your current health condition and providing you with hope and a plan of action moving forward.

Assessing Six Vital Areas of Health

At Summit Chiropractic & Wellness Center your rehabilitation experience starts with a comprehensive one hour and thirty minute exam that assesses your: craniocervical junction, vestibular system, oculomotor system, proprioceptive system, skeletal system, and your autonomic nervous system. By assessing these areas, we can identify structural and neurological areas of dysfunction that could be contributing to your current state of health.

Craniocervical Junction

The craniocervical junction is the most mobile part of the vertebral column. Its mobility comes at the expense of mechanical stability. In addition, the craniocervical junction helps to coordinate and relay information for the proprioceptive, vestibular and oculomotor system. As a result, the cervical spine is an extremely vulnerable structure, especially where trauma is involved, and is a source of a plethora of symptoms that do not arise from any other musculoskeletal region of the body.

Oculomotor System

The eyes are directly wired to the brain. As a result, normal visual perception and eye movement control require proper brain function. Therefore oculomotor function provides an insight into brian function, while simultaneously providing the clinician with an entry point for brain rehabilitation.

Vestibular System

Vestibular dysfunction coming from the inner ear and or brainstem nuclei can create symptoms of dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance that often handicap patients from enjoying normal everyday activities and pleasures.

Proprioceptive System

The proprioceptive system allows the brain to know where the body is in space. As a result, the proprioceptive system influences subconscious movement, posture, balance, coordination and even speech.

Skeletal System

The spine, or vertebral column, is a vital structure that provides the body with support, flexibility, and protection. It safeguards the spinal cord, a key part of the nervous system that transmits signals between the brain and body, enabling movement and sensation. The spine’s intervertebral discs absorb shock and allow a range of motions while maintaining stability and posture. Its health is crucial for mobility, balance, and overall well-being, as injuries or disorders can significantly impact quality of life.

Nervous System

The nervous system includes the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves that exit from the spine. The nervous system receives information, processes it, and then reacts to said stimulus. It is essential for this process to work properly for optimal health to occur. In addition, this process when not functioning properly can even create pain.

Providing Transparency

No one likes to get blindsided with a huge bill or an extended care plan. In our practice, we will explain things upfront and answer all your questions. We tell patients if what they’re experiencing is a chiropractic issue, and the likelihood of our approach helping. In addition, we allow the patient to make sure this is what they’re looking for.
At Summit Chiropractic and Wellness Center we do not accept insurance (with the exception of Medicare), but Dr. Billiris will lay out his proposed plan of care, the costs. Then, the choice to become a patient is yours. There will never be any sales tactics or pressure placed on you throughout the process.

Taking Our Time With Each Patient

If you’ve been to high-volume practices in the past where you felt like a recipient of assembly-line care, that’s not the case here. Dr. Billiris takes his time with each patient and wants to get to know them. You won’t feel rushed here, but instead cared for.
